Fungal Infections And Risk Factor

Fungi don´t account for all diseases found in flora. Viral diseases are fairly indiscriminate about what they choose to plague. They will effect stunted growth, resulting in bad-looking specimen plants and fruits. If they get a real hold, the only option is to grub out and burn the poor victims. Viruses are far less likely to take root if proper cultivation methods are adopted and healthy, hardy stock is chosen in the first place.

Good stock can have its own inbuilt resistance to many diseases. Good cultivation can also be an excellent defense against the arrogant frontal attacks of numerous viruses; they are not always as tough as they make out and will fade away when confronted by correct cultivation. Keeping insect pests under control pays dividends as several virus diseases can become uncontrollable through vectors like aphids carrying the disease from plant to plant. Cut down on pests and your viruses will be restricted.

Some examples of fungal infections:

Ringworm, or tinea, is an example of an infection of the skin. Diseases that are fungal and attack the skin are known as superficial infections. Diseases that fall into this range are located on the skin, hair and nails. Athlete's Foot is one of the most common superficial fungal infections. Thanks to the rise in youth sports programs, the incidences of superficial fungal infections have seen an increase.Another form of fungal infection occurs in the dermis, or subcutaneous tissue directly underneath the skin.

Systemic fungal diseases are much more serious, and can be potentially life threatening. Their entry into the body occurs through the lungs, intestines, or through intravenous lines. The fungal diseases that enter through the lungs are most often airborne spores, and containment is often impossible. These diseases belong to the pathogenic fungi, and can result in death.

Fungal risk factors:

1. Medical Conditions
Persons who are suffering from cancer and metabolic problems, such as diabetes, are at a higher risk of getting fungal infections than average people. Those who have depressed immune system are also more susceptible. If you have autoimmune diseases, including AIDS, then your antibodies may not be able to combat fungal infections properly.
2. Antibiotic Use
Medications or drugs, such as antibiotics, which are intended to eliminate disease-causing bacteria, may also promote the proliferation of fungal skin problems. When you take antibiotics, even good bacteria living on your skin and inside your body are also eliminated. As a result, fungi can take advantage of the situation and scramble to take root in certain parts of your body.
3. Environmental Factors
Heat and moisture are some of the things that fungi need in order to grow. Just leave a damp wood for a few days and you will see that mushrooms, which are an example of fungi, will soon sprout on them. The same is true with fungal infections. The areas in your body which are prone to heat and moist, like your armpits, toes, and crotch, also serve as good breeding grounds for fungi colonies.
